Ankita Mohanan is the newest member of the elementary faculty at St. Mary’s. Ms. Mohanan teaches early childhood education to elementary students, and she is enjoying her experience here. When asked about her first couple of days at St. Mary’s she said, “It has been a very fruitful couple of days.” Only a few days have passed since the start of this school year, and she already finds all the SMIS teachers, admins, and staff to be “nothing, but kind, welcoming, and warm” towards her. Currently, Ms. Mohanan believes that her decision was right, and she admires our school’s educational philosophy. She especially admires how the educational system thrives to bring up boys as future global citizens and how the teachers are always willing to help.

After working as a special effects make-up artist, she was offered a job to teach nursery school. She claims that this is when teaching ‘found’ her. Ms. Mohanan found teaching education as something closer to destiny, “I didn’t realize that I wanted to become a teacher until [teaching] found me.” As a teacher at St. Mary’s, she loves not only to teach, but also to learn new things from the students. On the daily, she believes that the students are “the greatest educators.”

Outside of her profession as a teacher, she likes to draw, write poetry, and dance. She also enjoys watching movies on Netflix such as Daredevil, which incorporates adventurous elements and powerful characters. Similar to the characters on Daredevil, Ms. Mohanan is without a doubt an ‘adventurer.’ As a well-traveled, culturally diverse person, she has taught in three different countries: Ireland, Kazakhstan, Russia.

Overall, Ms. Mohanan appreciates the warm welcome she has received at St. Mary’s and wishes to continue her experience here at our community.

As a part of the SMIS student body, we are very happy to welcome Ms. Mohanan to our community.
