たこ家道頓堀くくる(Dohtonbori Kukuru) – Futako Tamagawa Rise Shopping Mall, B1F, Found at the Tokyu Food Show
Takoyaki(a.k.a. Octopus ball) is a Japanese street-food delicacy that is commonly found in shopping streets. Takoyaki comes in the form of balls that are made of batter mixed with soup stock, and have a piece of octopus meat at the center. The balls are then topped off with mayonnaise, worchester sauce, and bonito flakes.
While a bit pricey, this takoyaki shop offers an experience that is worth it. The takoyaki was soft, not over cooked, and served at the perfect warm temperature. Unlike most takoyaki stands in the Tokyo area, the balls contained sizable pieces of octopus, providing a mouth filling experience. This coupled with being cooked to perfection, provides a melty experience, allowing you to gulp it down. Furthermore, the sauce, a mixture of mayonnaise, worchester sauce, and nori, is light in taste and does not overpower the flavour of the takoyaki. As expected from the price, this takoyaki outclasses the ones you can purchase at 7-11 by a great margin. However, this price is also to its demerit, as ¥740 might seem expensive for a pack of 10 pieces. All in all, the experience is worth the price, and we give it a rating of 8 out of 10.
