Mr. Reed decided to become a teacher when he was traveling through Europe after his high school graduation. In university he majored in physical education and minored in history. Before St.Marys he taught at Foster High School in Tukwila, Washington, USA. In May Mr. Reed decided to teach at St. Mary’s because he thought it would be a good opportunity for him and his family to break out of their routine and try something new and exciting. At St. Mary’s Mr. Reed has found the staff to be very welcoming and helpful to him, and he is impressed by the knowledge of the students at St. Mary’s.

Personal Background:

For fun Mr. Reed likes to read, travel, take photos, hike, and ride bikes. When asked what his favourite film, music and games were, he said that he does not like to pick favorite things because he believes that there is so much variety to chose from. If Mr. Reed was stranded on an deserted island he said that he would want a book by Twain, Conrad, Dostoyevsky, Baldwin, Vonnegut, Kerouac, Heller, or any book about history. Mr. Reed has lived in Canada, the US, Singapore, South Korea, and Columbia before coming to Japan. Here at SMIS, he loves this part of Japan and finds it beautiful.
